Can that be a good combination ? Catching up with stuff I have recorded on tv here . . . . this guy has his dog (Westie) professionally groomed every 2 weeks so the dog will not smell and to reduce the dog hair in the house . . .
Does that sound about right ?? I can imagine the dog is used to it but over washing dogs is not particularly great for their skin . . . . or am I way of the mark here ?
Over washing dogs can strip the natural oils from their coat and give them a dull coat, itchy skin etc! Westies don't shed anyway? They're double coated and if you get them stripped they definitely don't shed! If the dog smells in 2 weeks,it may be because they've developed a skin condition which has a characteristic "doggy" smell...and can also be really painful. If you're OCD and have a germ/smell issue I don't really think a dog is the best pet choice?
Scrumpy gets his legs bathed about every 2 weeks, but with medicated shampoo to keep his skin under control. He hates it,but only in a "damn it,I don't want to be clean!" Sara gets bathed only when she's muddy or really stinky, because she's not a lady who enjoys baths.
Yeah I saw that! Wondered that myself, but saying that, the dog looked pretty healthy, and as it was a professional groomer, perhaps they are used to Westies and their skin issues so use the appropriate prducts.
Does seem strange to have a pet and such sever OCD. I know one person with it, and strangely, she does have a Westie, but she doesn't get groomed nearly as often. But the OCD isn't as bad as the guy on the program.
I worked with a girl once, who had a springer, she was ocd clean, (the owner not the dog) she was washing the dogs chew toys two or three times a day..cant remember what excuse I made..it was just a wee pup ..imagine when it comes in covered in mud and squirrels hanging from its fur etc..I was lost for ideas..the dog needed to use its nose and play with toys ..I bet she hasn't still got the dog.

That sounds like some sad woman would'nt do her to come here then seriously though what poccessed her to even get a dog?? Over the last 4wks my little front room has been seen to have all sorts of stuff around, bits of wood, plants with roots attached, lumps of coal, have to say my hoover has never been used so much,do I care not a sausage!!!!Marykay
Dogs come with grubbiness, it's unrealistic to think that you can keep your house clean with a dog in the house! Washing their toys 2 or 3 times a day? With what? I hope she was rinsing well enough that the dog wasn't ingesting any cleaning products on a regular basis
i suppose it was an attempt on her behalf to not let the ocd rule her life...but i cant imagine...they are just not dogs that stay clean for more than two minutes.

Wow,I would ve recommended a hamster to start of with, not a mucky pup some people must have very strange brain waves . . . . . poor girl though, OCD must be horrible to live with judging by these peeps on the show
having a giggle ..my mother is the opposite, is a lot better now, but was once quite a hoarder, that too is hard to live with,...the dogs couldn't find their toys!
