Time flies when your having fun!
It was 2 years yesterday when Domino came to be mine. Its been quite a journey looking back for him and for me. A lot has changed since he arrived all scared and nervous of everything. I can now handle him quite freely and move him about without getting growled at. He willingly stands to get dried, brushed or put his harness on, he loves his snuggles and getting massaged. Which is a far cry from hating any contact! He loves trick training and playtime and a good run in the field and knows all his commands and is good at them AS LONG AS THERES NO BIG DISTRACTIONS!!!!!lol lol lol He gets so overexcited I might as well speak to the wall. Lead walking to heal is still to be mastered but making good progress not sure being realistic that we'll ever master it he just too excitable he gets a couple steps right them wooosh full speed ahead again! I think the biggest issue is him stiffening up when another dog comes along. He literally just roots to the ground and stares at them so all gentle encouragement to move away or come and play falls on deaf ears and I have to yank him by the lead to move. Hes really good with other dogs when he gets to know them but oh dear that first step is impossible.
Apart from behaviour hes been through a lot of health issues since day one with his colitis, the seizure type activity, the pain and limping, the stick injury to his mouth which need to be operated on and of course the outcome of the lameness being a broken elbow needing an op which ended in a second one to amputate and pin the other leg.
That's a fair bit to deal with in 2 years!
Hes a great wee man, hes taught me as much as I've taught him and I feel the bond is really there now. Heres to the next 2 years hopefully without the dilemas and dramas!
Just a wee thank you to Adrianne for her advice and help that guided us through the difficult times and to you all for the support and sharing the ups and downs along the way.
