We had a brilliant time today! Weather was great, sunny and warm so we headed for the river for our walk today. Off up the track at back and past stables , Dexter was out and tagged along for a bit then he was relluctant to go back home before we got to the road so we went back a bit with him and then he went the rest himself. On down to the river then for a play then on to the footbzall field for a run sbout and get dried in the sun.
Practiced some agility using the fence for weaving, the benches for walking along then some obedience and finally a lead walk home ....very goodvirtually no pulling all the way home and he passed or was passed by other dogs and was notably very relaxed . So no incidents ? Long may that be the caxe
That sounds like a super fun day! Yesterday was the perfect day to play in the river, the sun was really warm wasn't it...perfect for drying off
How's the weaving coming along with the star student? Sara can do the weaving...kind of. But she hasn't worked out how to still do it with just a command yet. It's fun though, so I think we'll get there.
And that is AWESOME news about the walk home. What a good boy Domino is, he deserves some yummy treats for being so well behaved (I'm sure he got plenty!)
Brilliant Jordan it's such a good feeling when your dog is good and good for you,Xena is getting there slow but sure I have had her for 6 months now she is so much better sometimes I can just walk her on her LUPI,no HALTI !! I have to read her mood she is so good off lead down the woods I need for her to be the same on the road and down the town but I just know that she will be eventually,as for the weaves well I can't wait for her to do that the tunnel too I just love the agility bit and Xena will too also fly ball it's all on the list for this year, just hope and pray my old joints will hold out to do her the justice she deserves as like Domino she just now wants to please and learn the puppy stage is slowly leaving her and she is now beginning to pay much more attention.Kristina
Thats the end of the nice weather by the look of it, very windy here and showers.
Our walk today was round the town delivering Easter cards so on lead for duration. Now I tried this at Christmas and had to take him home after 5 minutes as it was a nightmare, pulling and darting all over the place with excitment at all the new places and smells. Well today we completed the task so that in itself speaks volumes. There were times his excitment was obvious but he was trying really hard to control it and responded to the corrections. Still a long way to go but I now feel able to give him more walks in public places and new environments to get the practice he needs to master this without killing me in the process.
Kimmikins I've got a little video of Domino working on the pole weaves will get it uploaded after my little visitor has gone home again in a couple of days. Glad your Saras getting the hang of it. Your right it is good fun. It weird actually cause when I had Jordan and I saw Mary Rae do her stuff at Crufts I thought wow! Thats amazing and never dreamt I could do such a thing with Jordan. I thought it was only really special people / dogs that could do it and now here I am teaching tricks to Domino.....its brilliant!
