Ok, before tommy got neutered he used to be so good at weeing on command but that has totally gone out the window since his op! He more or less' refuses to go for a wee before bed now, and sometimes I can't remember the last time I saw him wee so I'm thinking has it been like 12 hours since he last been?? And I'm thinking is this normal?! Seems a long time and I don't want him lying in bed with stomach ache needing a wee cos he won't bark at night because I've come down in the past and he's been ill during the night and not heard a peep! This might all be ok but just wanna make sure cos I'm a worrier as you all know haha xxx
Does he drink any water near to bed time, say after 8pm? And has he ever had an accident during the night if he's refused to pee before bed?
I know it's not ideal, dogs shouldn't be made to hold it for very long periods of time, but if he's not asking to go out during the night, and if he doesn't have an accident during the night I don't think it's anything to worry about. You could go down the route of not letting him in until he's had a wee? Back to some basics. But if he's peeing on command at all other times then I wouldn't worry.
Sara sometimes refuses to pee...or she assumes the position but doesn't actually go just so that she can come back inside. In my view, she's had the opportunity, she knows what to do and that she won't get out again until the morning, so if she does a cheeky pseudo-wee that's entirely up to her!
Thanks for the advise! He's had one accident since his op and it was the biggest wee I've ever seen hahaha! So he must of been desperate bless him, but other than that he's fine. As daft as it sounds sometimes what I have done is took him out on our front for a wee with his lead on and he's had a big wee by doing it that way which makes me think when I've not took him out on the front and he's refused to go in the back garden is he needing To go still?! Hmmm maybe I'm just over thinking things xx
