neighbours dogs!

My next door neighbour has 2 staffie x Molly is a lovely wee dog but Poppy who theyve had for 3 plus years is a large very reactive dog, who ive mentioned before. They were trying to control her withthe aerosol spray  thing. Well shes getting worse now and my other neighbours dog was set upon by it last night. Mitzi was on lead .....always is, even on walks! But Poppy was off lead and went for her. No serious damage done but thats the 3rd time its happened over past year. I have to pop my head out and check its safe before I let Domino out side  as front garden is not closed in. They have never 'met'even though they live next door I always keep my distance with him and hes not keen anyway with her barking and reacting at the sight of anything or anyone wether 2 or 4 legged.

They really need to get some helpfor her, shes a nervous wreck! It could be a child next time.

have a word with your dog warden. animal welfare officer.. ask to be kept anonymous ...they will probably only be told to prevent her from getting out unattended, maybe wear a muzzle out of doors get some help etc...but it will be registered on a file in case of any incident or further complaint.

if poppy is fearful, I would hate to see her in a muzzle ..but they are ok to use short term as a training tool (I never suggest it - if there is that much of a danger in my mind, the dog is too close to the object it may bite, to be training! but that's a different thread!

Why is she ever off lead if she is reactive   . . . . . . how horrible for you having to check and have the constant worry that this dog could come out while Domino is out there . . . . I feel sorry for this dog too,shame they cant be arsed to help this dog with her fear

I agree with Adrianne, report it to your dog warden anonymously. Poppy's owners are probably relying on the fact the incidents have been amongst "friends" so to speak, so feel they don't have to do anything because you'll all understand. Damage or no damage, Poppy shouldn't be out off-lead when she has a history of going for other dogs.

Could not cope with living next door to that situation,my neighbor has 2 westies she nearly has a fit if Xena is out in my front garden she puts her dogs straight back in doors saying that her 2 don't like other dogs,she doesn't give them a chance to meet and that winds me up big time,as a woman she is lovely but not got the know how or the courage to let our dogs meet,I think they would be fine and would just love to play but she won't have any of it,she doesn't let them meet any other dogs or walks them any where,they just have a fenced in area to do their loo type stuff and thats it,very sad to me.I have said to my other neighbor that she and I should walk Brew and Xena together as I can still have him the weekends they go away on the bike rallies that Connor goes on with them and I will push that over the next few weeks.Kristina
