Will keep fingers and paws crossed here that the op goes smoothly. It's been a long time coming, I'm so glad that you've finally found what's been causing the problem.
If you're planning on remaining with the same vet, it's definitely worth bringing it to their attention! Do you always see the same vet, or is it a clinic where you see several vets?
Ultimately, they failed to diagnose a condition which, if left untreated or progressed, could've left Crash without vision in one eye or worse! And, from what you've said, it's not an uncommon condition, nor would it be one that's difficult to spot - they've made an incorrect diagnosis and then failed to re-examine when it didn't resolve itself, they've flogged a dead horse! The vet/clinic need to be made aware of this. I wouldn't go in guns blazing, but a reasonable conversation with someone important is, IMO, perfectly acceptable. I'd expect them to make some sort of attempt to redress he situation.
I've done something similar in the past, when a vet missed a very painful skin infection in Scrumpy Jack. I had it put on his notes that he wasn't to see this particular vet, and made it clear to the clinic why this was. This didn't affect our relationship with the clinic, both Scrumpy Jack and Sara are registered there, and nothing more was said about it. I just wanted it noted that there had been a failure, and thus didn' trust a particular member of staff with my pet.
we saw a locum vet for all of our visits apart from crash getting his booster but yes i think a well mannered complaint is in order thanks you just convinced me
