I don't really have an opinion, but then I don't really know what's involved. I don't think it's cruel in terms of the dyes that they use, they're just chalk aren't they? And it's anthropomorphic to think that dogs would be embarrassed or ashamed by they designs they are groomed into...the only thing I would disagree with is if there's any pain when they style the fur, or if it takes an unfair length of time to style them.
No would never do this to an animal, I really dont see the need theres plenty of other supports if you want to be creative! It just makes your pet look ridiculous and i love mine too much to make a mockery of him! He might not know any different but I do and gods creations are perfect as they are.
It would be pretty difficult to do that to a greyhound
I have no problem with creative grooming actually, to the dog, its no different to being groomed normally. I don't like it being a competition though, its just silly.
The show that I saw the competition was for two hours and I know my dog would not stand that long
Yes, that's the bit I had a problem with.
Same here. I'd never have one of my dogs styled that way, I don't see the point...or see them staying still for that long. Sara would also eat the chalk.
Hmmm, she uses semi-permanent hair dye...not sure about that. I guess if you ensure you keep it to the hair only it's not harmful. She also talks about the chalk method, which is the one I've heard about.
If you can watch the Doggy Styling program on catch up, you'll see what I mean. It's interesting, but I didn't like it that much. One woman said her dog couldn't see for weeks because of the way she put his hair.
